The seventh session of the online learning course, “Pulling the strings together (…)”, builds upon both the open concept of culture and the idea of ‘multi-collectivity’ by complementing them with two other perspectives. These are the ‘quasi-natural’ worldview (which examines cultural dynamics from a closed conception of culture) and the idea of ‘power-reflexive practice’, through which we attempt to equalise power asymmetries in concrete interactions. Through this comprehensive approach, participants are equipped not only to systematically dissect intercultural encounters by utilising their acquired knowledge, but also to consider additional collective factors that might impede smooth, collaborative interaction. By intertwining these three perspectives, this session supports a culture reflexive approach and lays the groundwork for discovering solutions that transcend confusion, irritation, and other boundaries encountered in intercultural encounters.
