Culture reflexivity that embraces three meta-perspectives recognises that:
- we all have cultural routines and practices which stem from the collectives that were or are meaningful for us, and switching perspectives is a challenge. Hence, knowledge about cultural differences might be helpful to interpret and decipher unusual behaviour
- all categories are temporary constructions. We belong to so many communities and collectives that we cannot know every influence on a situation and therefore have to inquire, ask open questions and negotiate in the given context. Also, every interaction takes place in a system or organisation with respective expectations and patterns of thinking and acting, and these also need to be considered in order to find a solution. The resources for solutions we find in the art of "not knowing" (nescience) what the best way is. Then, we are open enough to explore a way with our interlocutors.
- power asymmetries play an influential (subconscious) role in encounters and need to be anticipated. Equally, pre-distributed privileges need to be acknowledged and reduced. The challenge is to work against asymmetries in order to achieve more justice.
