In the previous session you dealt with the complex nature of defining and conceptualising culture and discussed why using an open and multi-relational approach to culture serves as a good foundation for intercultural understanding. Following on from this, we will start this session by enhancing our understanding of the contexts in which such a definition can be applied. In particular, we will discuss aspects of what Vertovec calls ‘Super-diversity’, as this will help us to understand changes in our social and work environments. With this in mind, we will subsequently define and explain the concept of interculturality and explore intercultural interactions.
