Communication is a complex, interactive process. By introducing the transactional model and discussing the various constituents of the communication process, this session introduced a tool that can be used to analyse such processes. A further aim of this session was to sensitise the reader for the necessity of co-creating and negotiating meaning as a basis for any actions that follow. This also means that communicators need to acknowledge their responsibility in developing a common understanding of each other’s perspective.
